Snack on Anti-Inflammatory Foods
While inflammation may be a normal part of your immune responses, too much can be uncomfortable, painful, and lead to other health issues. That’s why snacking on anti-inflammatory foods is so important (Pssst! Our wine is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds).
You don’t necessarily have to swap out ALL your meals with these foods. However, snacking on anti-inflammatory foods throughout the day is a great way to avoid sugary snacks while getting in a bit of wellness. According to Harvard Health Publishing, the following foods have anti-inflammatory properties:
- Carrots
- Celery
- Apples
- Cherries
- Grapes
- Lemons
- Limes
- Oranges
- Tomatoes
- Kale
- Sweet Potatoes
- Mushrooms
Practice Mindfulness
We don’t know about you, but December is always a mad rush towards the end. Then there’s that strange limbo between Christmas and New Year’s where we all lose track of what day it is. By the time January starts, it can somehow feel like you’re already behind, even though the new year JUST started. That’s why we highly recommend practicing mindfulness.
Honestly, this is the PERFECT time of year to start a mindfulness practice. Whether you prefer to jog, paint, or meditate, simply taking time to be present and in the moment will have a major positive impact on your well-being. Plus, the American Psychological Association even says that a mindfulness practice promotes cognitive function, increases attention span, and helps people regulate their emotions more effectively.
Luckily, taking 10 or 15 minutes each day to practice mindfulness is easier than ever with activities like these:
- Meditation
- Journaling
- Nature walk
- Art
- Gardening
- Box breathing
- Mindful cleaning
Take Your Lunch Break
This might sound strange, but take your FULL lunch break every day. In other parts of the world, entire towns shut down for mid-day breaks. Perhaps that’s not the norm in the U.S., but it’s a habit we’re considering adopting…and for good reason!
A study in December looked at 1,136 employees in the U.S. and found that a whopping 76% of them were experiencing burnout. When we’re feeling burnt out from work, we may experience fatigue, negative thinking, irritability, detachment, and even lower work performance.
At SECCO Wine Club, we encourage you to live life in the classic Italian way. That means working to live, not living to work—and taking a full lunch break! We’re meant to enjoy our lives and cherish those that we love. Speaking of loved ones…
Prioritize Loved Ones in 2022
“Loved ones” could be family members, friends, or even cherished neighbors. Whatever the case, expressing our gratitude for loved ones is good for us! Plus, it probably makes them feel pretty wonderful too.
You don’t have to do anything grand, but here are a few simple ways you can prioritize your loved ones in 2022:
- Send a text/email
- Phone call
- Zoom call
- Handwriting a letter
- Take a class together
- Share a meal together
- Grab coffee/tea together
- Share a bottle of wine
Drink Low-Carb Wine
Oh yeah, let’s not forget about the wine! We have zero intention of cutting out wine, however, we do think you should be more discerning about the type of wine you’re drinking.
Oscar Wilde said, “Everything in moderation, including moderation.” Strangely enough, when it comes to wellness, that particular idea is really important. The key is finding a way to indulge without completely derailing your goals. THAT is where low-carb wine comes in.
If you’re familiar with our mission, you know that we firmly believe what we put into our bodies matters. We wanted to create wines that enrich people’s lifestyles—a big part of that means low-carb, no added sugar, and no additives or toxins.
With less than three grams of carbs and residual sugar in each of our PALO61 bottles, our wines are designed to complement lifestyles that balance nutrition, fitness, and mental health. Whether you’re Keto, Paleo, Whole Food, or even just thinking about lowering your carb intake, our wine won’t hold you back from your goals.
Cheers to 2022 and Living Your Best Life!
