5 Wine-Inspired Ways To Celebrate Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so let’s get creative! Keep reading for 5 wine-inspired ways to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Let’s be honest, moms are pretty amazing. They take care of us, give us advice, and shower us with love even when we’re brats. But we’re not just talking about biological mothers! The “mom” in your life might be a close mentor, a friend’s mother who loved you like her own, or even an athletic coach who cheered for you both on and off the field.

Regardless of who “mom” is to you, you probably don’t need us to tell you how special they are. So, instead of simply sending a card in the mail this year, we thought of some fun ways you can spend time together and make memories. Because, in the end, that’s what really matters anyway.

We’ve got spa tips, arts and crafts activities, and more! Plus, as an added bonus, they all involve wine. Keep reading for five wine-inspired ways to celebrate Mother’s Day this year!

Indulge With An At-Home Wine Facial For Mother’s Day

Mom’s work HARD. So, this mother’s day consider relaxing together with an at-home wine facial! Yes, you read that right. While wine provides antioxidants when sipped, you can also get creative and infuse your at-home skincare routines with wine. We recommend starting with a red wine cleanser.

In a small bowl, add a tablespoon of lemon juice to three or four tablespoons of red wine (preferably something organic with no added sugar). Using a cotton ball, dip it into the mixture and apply it all over your face. Gently massage the mixture into your skin to help the cleanser penetrate more deeply and to promote lymphatic drainage. After about five minutes, rinse your face with warm water, and voila! This simple cleanser both tones and promotes a brighter complexion.

Plus, did you know you can create a red wine face mask?!? Simply combine one teaspoon of honey, two teaspoons of plain yogurt, and two teaspoons of red wine. Apply evenly to clean skin, let it sit for twenty minutes, and then gently wash off with lukewarm water.

These quick at-home skincare practices are a great way for you and your mom to connect, laugh, and experience a spa day from the comfort of home. And if you take a few extra sips, we won’t tell anyone 😉

Cook a Meal Together That Uses Wine as an Ingredient

Sharing a meal with someone is pretty special. It’s a way to spend time together, make memories, and catch up. So, not only is this a great way to spend time with mom, you’ll get to practice your cooking skills!

There are a LOT of different recipes that require wine, but you may want to review some basics before jumping in. Simple things like knowing which wines work best with specific dishes and how to “cook out” alcohol will take your recipes to the next level.

If cooking isn’t how you and your mom connect, no worries! You could also whip up a simple dish (try our salmon with avocado salsa or keto-friendly charcuterie) and enjoy it with the perfect wine pairing.

What if your mom just wants to put her feet up and let someone else do all the work? First, who could blame them? Second, you could order her favorite take-out and flex your wine pairing skills together!

Practice the Art of Wine Tasting For Mother’s Day

Whether you’re wine connoisseurs or complete newbies, practicing the art of wine tasting together is a great way to make memories and experiment with new wines.

You don’t have to get an entire case (although we certainly won’t stop you) but go ahead and select at least a few bottles. That way you can compare the different aromas, colors, textures, and more.

Who knows, this may quickly become the go-to activity that you and your mom bond over on a regular basis. You may go from monthly wine tastings to planning whole vacations around vineyard tours!

Get Crafty With Leftover Wine Bottles

If your mom loved the macaroni art you glued together for her during your childhood, she’ll definitely appreciate a more elevated form of arts and crafts. Even if she’s not a wine drinker (gasp!), she’ll still appreciate the time you spend together and the practical nature of the finished products.

We have five ways to recycle your secco wine bottles, but there are LOTS of other ways you can get creative. Here are just a few…

  • Create holiday-themed decorations out of wine bottles
  • Cover bottles in chalk paint for quick personalized table decorations
  • Turn wine bottles into vases
  • Create a self-watering system for plants with wine bottles
  • Turn wine bottles into one-of-a-kind glasses
  • Upcycle bottles and turn them into lamps or soap dispensers.

Seriously, the list goes on. You could even print out favorite pictures of the two of you and create a unique decoupage bottle. We don’t know about you, but we think that’s just the kind of thing that would make most moms go, “Aw!”

Simply Enjoy a Bottle of Wine Together

At the end of the day, it’s all about spending time together. Dropping by with a bottle of wine to share is probably the easiest way to put a smile on her face. Plus, even if you live in different time zones, it would still mean the world to her if you shared a virtual glass of wine together.

You can make it special by sending her favorite bottle, a particular wine associated with a good memory, or you could try a completely new bottle together. Whatever the case, taking time out of your schedule to catch up is one of the best ways to bring a little joy to her day.
