Elf and Rosé

“You have such a pretty face. You should be on a Christmas card.”

With lines so sweet, it seems fitting to opt for a floral rosé! Funnyman Will Ferrell plays the star of this hilariously heartwarming, holiday flick. Buddy is a human who was raised at the North Pole, helping in Santa’s workshop. Buddy doesn’t quite fit in there, though, so he travels to New York City to find his family.

Needless to say, Buddy’s father—a big-shot book publisher—is pretty shocked to meet him. After all, the real world is a tough place for a carol-singing, sweets-eating, tights-wearing guy like Buddy. But when Santa himself runs into some trouble in the big city, he needs an Elf like Buddy to help save Christmas.

PALO61, Toscana Rosato IGT No. 10 - SECCO Wine Club

To get the most holiday cheer from this flick, we suggest a rosé that’s as fun as Buddy! With hints of raspberry in this medium-bodied wine, our PALO61, Toscana Rosato has a delightful flavor. However, it’s best to let Buddy take care of the sweets because this rosé is paired best with salads, appetizers, and seafood.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Vermentino

“Santa, don’t forget the Grinch. I know he’s mean and hairy and smelly, and his hands are cold and clammy, but I think he’s kinda… sweet.”

We’ve got a wine pairing that would make even the Grinch enjoy the holidays! Whoville is a town that loves to celebrate Christmas. The twinkling trees, the sparkling lights, the roast beast feast—let’s just say they understood the assignment. There’s only one thing that could ruin their holiday…the Grinch!

Played by Jim Carrey, the Grinch is mean, green, and has a heart that’s two sizes too small. Plus, the Grinch positively hates Christmas. So when a little girl named Cindy Lou Who befriends the Grinch and invites him to town, wild shenanigans of the Seuss variety ensue all over Whoville.

Vermentino Toscana Santa Lucia - SECCO Wine Club

Now, you can also go green with our organic Vermentino Toscana. This white grape wine has zero added sugars and is even gluten-free. That means you can enjoy movie night guilt-free! Pair this wine with chicken salad, fish, appetizers, and the Grinch, for a heavy dose of festive cheer.

It’s a Wonderful Life and PALO61, Toscano Rosso

“What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word, and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down.”

We’re over the moon for this classic film in black and white, paired with an equally classic wine in red. Jimmy Stewart is George Bailey, a man who’s been pushed to the edge. After years of putting the needs of others before his own, George Bailey has lost all hope for his personal dreams. He finds himself on a bridge over icy water, contemplating life and whether it’s worth living.

But what would the world be like if George Bailey didn’t exist? George’s guardian angel, Clarence, arrives on Earth to show him. George Bailey just might discover that his life is pretty wonderful after all.

PALO61 Toscano Rosso | SECCO Wine Club

For a wine that is sure to make life wonderful, we suggest our PALO61, Toscano Rosso. Produced by cherry grapes from coastal Tuscany, this red wine is rich and flavorful. Pair it with red or white meat and cheese for a classic wine and movie evening.

Love Actually and Grand Noir

“I realized that Christmas is the time to be with the people you love.”

This organic red wine is actually pretty grand (see what we did there?). Love Actually is a holiday-themed romantic comedy with an ensemble cast including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley, Rowan Atkinson, and many others.

During the few weeks leading up to Christmas, Love Actually features ten interlinked love stories that play out across London. From aging rock stars to young politicians, long-married couples and newlyweds alike, everyone’s got a love story to tell. This holiday season, find out what love actually means.

Grand Noir wine - SECCO Wine Club

For a bold and flirty wine to enjoy with this film, we suggest our Grand Noir Toscana. With flavors that are both spicy and light, this wine is like a good love story itself. Pair it with your favorite appetizer or salad and enjoy.

A Christmas Story and Chardonnay

“Aaah! ‘Fra-GEE-leh!’ It must be Italian!”
“Uh, I think that says FRAGILE, honey.”

There’s no question about the Italian roots of this classic wine pairing. Ralphie Parker is nine years old, and there’s just one thing he wants for Christmas this year. Ralphie wants—inhale deep breath—a Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle. You get all that? In other words, Ralphie wants a BB gun.

There’s just one problem. He’ll shoot his eye out! At least according to Ralphie’s mother, and the department store Santa, and any other adult he tells about the BB gun. What can Ralphie count on receiving for Christmas? A fuzzy pink bunny suit, courtesy of some old and crusty relative.

Chardonnay | SECCO Wine Club

Ralphie’s father has a taste for the finer things in life, such as the fishnet leg lamp that he thinks came from Italy. So we’re pretty sure he’d approve of our low-carb Chardonnay, made with only the finest grapes. With crisp hints of apple and pear, this white wine pairs nicely with a variety of dishes. Enjoy a glass of our Chardonnay with appetizers and salads, white meats or fish, or even with pasta.

Happiest Season and Pinot Grigio

“I want to wake up with you on Christmas morning. And if that doesn’t convince you to love Christmas, I’ll never bring it up again.”

Our low-carb pinot grigio makes for a happy season, ANY time of the year! Abby and Harper are happily in love and spending the holidays with Harper’s family. Little does Abby know, Harper plans to propose to her on Christmas morning. But there’s a catch – Harper hasn’t come out to her conservative family yet about her relationship with Abby. Uh oh!

Abby agrees to play along as Harper’s roommate who has no family of her own to spend the holidays with, at least until after Christmas. But how long can the happy couple keep up the charade? For tons of holiday laughs delivered by Kristen Stewart,  Mackenzie Davis, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, and more, check out this somewhat autobiographical holiday comedy.

Pinot Grigio | SECCO Wine Club

For this refreshingly modern take on the holiday love story, we suggest an equally refreshing pinot. Our Pinot Grigio is rich and citrusy while also clean and crisp, making it versatile for any occasion. Pair it with chicken or fish, or simply enjoy a glass on its own.

Home Alone and ALIBEA, Toscano Rosso

“KEVINNNN!”

Kevin McCallister is, you guessed it, home alone. When his extended family makes a mad dash to the airport for Christmas vacation, Kevin is left snoozing in bed upstairs. Now, he’s got the entire house to himself, can eat whatever he wants, can watch whatever he wants, and do whatever he pleases. Not a bad gig for a kid, right?

But when two burglars try to break in and rob the place, it’s up to Kevin to defend his home. Unfortunately for the bandits, Kevin McCallister is the King of booby traps. Don’t miss this holiday nostalgia-fest, starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, and Catherine O’Hara.

Alibea Toscano Rosso | SECCO Wine Club

While the Wet Bandits are undoubtedly guilty of all kinds of things, and you can enjoy our ALIBEA Toscano Rosso totally guilt-free. With a lower alcohol content and calories, it’s ok to indulge this holiday season. Our ALIBEA Toscano Rosso is fresh,  fruity, and is best paired with Mediterranean-style dishes.

Die Hard and Pinot Noir

“If this is their idea of Christmas, I gotta be here for New Year’s.”

We’re die-hard fans of this cult-classic flick, paired with one of our favorite pinots. Bruce Willis stars as New York cop John McClane in this action-packed Christmas flick. Hoping to make up with his estranged wife, Holly, John McClane travels to Los Angeles for a party at Holly’s work. But Holly’s boss is wrapped up in some shady business with questionable characters, and the party quickly goes awry.

Terrorists linked to the corporation take over the building, holding everyone at the party hostage. With no help in sight to stop the dangerous heist taking place, John McClane will have to take matters into his own hands. Can he save the hostages, his wife, and Christmas?

Pinot Noir | SECCO Wine Club

With a film like Die Hard, we suggest a pinot that’s as red-blooded as John McClane himself. Our Terre Siciliane Pinot Noir is a deep ruby wine made from some of the most prized grape varieties and is sure to fit the occasion. Try this pinot with red or white meat, or with your favorite cheeses.

The Holiday and Toscana Bianco

“You’re supposed to be the leading lady of your own life, for god’s sake!”

With a name like The Holiday, you can be sure this romantic comedy is perfect for the season. Starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as leading ladies Iris and Amanda, this festive film also includes Jude Law and Jack Black.

Single, unhappy, and not really feeling the holiday spirit, Iris and Amanda agree to trade homes for a few weeks over Christmas. Iris travels to Hollywood, where Amanda’s glamorous lifestyle provides Iris with quite the posh vacation. On the other hand, Iris’s cottage in the English countryside takes some getting used to for Amanda. Luckily for both of them, their temporary localities offer new friends, life lessons, and maybe even a bit of romance.

Tenuta di Ceppaiano - SECCO Wine Club

This fun holiday rom-com deserves a light white wine to go with it. Our Tenuta di Ceppaiano Toscana Bianco is perfect for the occasion. Like a good romance, this white wine has both light and intense flavors. Pair white meat, seafood, or spicy dishes to get the most out of this wine.

The Muppet Christmas Carol and Merlot

“Our assets are frozen!”

You won’t feel like a Scrooge when you’re sipping on this Merlot. You might be familiar with Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, which tells the story of old Ebenezer Scrooge. But who could tell this tale better than The Muppets?!

Kermit the Frog is Bob Cratchit, a poor employee to the greedy and cruel Ebenezer Scrooge. Michael Caine portrays the grumpy boss, Mr. Scrooge, who is taken on a journey on Christmas Eve. Three ghosts from the past, present, and future visit the cold-hearted Scrooge and warn him of the consequences of his dark nature. Luckily for Scrooge, it’s not too late to change his ways, and Christmas morning is the perfect opportunity to make amends.

Merlot | SECCO Wine Club

A dark character like Ebenezer Scrooge calls for dark wine, such as our aromatic Merlot. With hints of blackberry, red currant, and a bit of spice, this ruby red wine is richer than Scrooge himself. Pair our Merlot with grilled or roasted meats and cheeses for the full effect.
